Costs and Quotes

How do I compare book publishing packages in the UK?

Reviewed 7 October 2026 · UK-focused guidance

Direct answer

Do not compare publishing packages by price alone. Put each proposal into the same checklist: manuscript work, cover and interior files, formats, ISBN arrangement, platform setup, revision limits, ownership, third-party charges, post-publication support and optional marketing.

Normalise the quotes

Two packages with similar names can contain very different editing, design and upload work. Compare the specific deliverables line by line.

Identify costs outside the package

Printing, ISBN purchases, advertising spend, premium images, postage, retailer fees or later revisions may sit outside the quoted service fee.

Check what you keep

Ask which final files, source files, platform logins and rights remain with you after the project ends.

This page provides general publishing information, not legal, tax or financial advice. Service scope and third-party platform terms should be confirmed before purchase or publication.

Compare the scope before you compare the price.

We will identify the work your manuscript actually needs and explain the deliverables before you commit.
